The performance of website is critical for its success. One of the major issues which arise in performance of websites is that of page load time. With a number of images, videos and graphic elements, the load of the page increases significantly which prevents it from being rendered properly. While these development issues can be tackled using technologies and a few tweaks, another level at which these can be handled is that of server level. And, the moment we think of server level optimization for these heavy load websites, we think of cloud hosting services and a content delivery network (CDN). Both of these can be combined to have Cloud CDN services which leverages the power of both. How?

CDN is a type of hosting service which puts your website physically closer to the users by creating its many copies. Irrespective of where the physical hosting of website files takes place, a CDN system would ensure that the same files are also running on a number of other servers, called Edge nodes or Edge servers, in different geographical locations. Precisely what and where these geographical locations are depends on the scope of your hosting services provider. This works well with both the dedicated and the VPS hosting environments. Cloud services are not tied to one physical server. Rather, the files are hosted on a number of virtual server machines which derive their computing power from a vast array of resources, such as servers, storages, routers, load balancers and others. In a way it delivers as a CDN network but is not exactly the one because it is essentially a hosting platform. A website hosted on cloud might still need a CDN network for faster delivery of content across the globe. Thus, cloud CDN services add to the power of each other.
